Are Tallahassee, FL and southern Georgia capable of being impacted severly by a hurricane?

I'm moving to the area and want to know what types of hurricane effects the area might receive. Do I need a hurricane escape plan if I live an hour or an hour and a half from the coast?Are Tallahassee, FL and southern Georgia capable of being impacted severly by a hurricane?
